JUMC members are serving others!
As disciples of Christ, JUMC recognizes there are many unmet human needs in the world and see it as our charge to help alleviate these needs. The Missions Committee seeks to identify those needs and communicate them to the congregation. The wide variety of talents, resources, gifts, interests and skills in our congregation provides for a wide variety of outreach opportunities.
The variety of mission activities is demonstrative of the church’s commitment to serve in many different arenas.
SERV Ministries International - SERV Ministries International was formed in 2001 for the purpose of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ by providing mission opportunities that would strengthen individual relationships with God. We believe that people can grow in their relationship with God while in serve to others. We began a church building program in Mexico and have built three churches, and Outreach Center, and educational building to date. We have also provided medical care and evangelism through a series of "tent projects" that are offered three times a year. The ministry is currently expanding into building an outreach center that will provide food and medical care year round. Opportunities for mission work will soon be available fifty two weeks a year. HIS Vision - H.I.S. Vision - Helping Improve Sight to those in need physically & spiritually is the goal we hope to fulfill in this ministry born from a need in the Tent Mission program of SERV International. As Jesus himself gave sight to the Man at Bethsaida, He is giving us opportunity to bring sight to people physically and spiritually. If you are interested in how YOU can be Jesus' hands and help restore sight to those who are in need please contact us for more information. JUMC Mexico Mission Trips - JUMC, under SERV, INT'L, has, including 2009, for eight years taken advantage of the opportunities for missions in Mexico. Each summer at least one team of 12-15 people have helped to construct a church building and to build a congregation through Bible School for the children and Bible study for the adults. At other times our people have gone with SERV on Medical Tent Missions doing medical and vision screening and dental care, then holding evangelistic services in the evening. There is always a place for one interested in serving others in a far away place such as Mexico. Contact Dex Phillips 706-692-6768.
United Methodist Volunteers In Mission (UMVIM) - Southeastern Jurisdiction exists to promote, encourage and enable Christians to exemplify “Christian Love In Action”. Our aim is to achieve the Great Commission through providing short-term mission opportunities for everyday Christians to reach a new generation with God's love. UMVIM provides opportunities for service in places of need around the world by developing and nurturing relationships with domestic and international leaders. We continually evaluate our contacts with these leaders to provide comprehensive project information. We help connect volunteers with suitable projects for effective service.
